Program Common Stimuli
In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), programming common stimuli involves bringing cues or materials from a natural environment into teaching sessions to help promote the generalization of learned behaviors.
By including stimuli that are also present outside of therapy or teaching settings, individuals are more likely to use the learned skill in real-life situations.
Example: If a child is learning to request a snack during a session, the same snack container or environmental cues used at home may also be used during teaching sessions so the child can more easily generalize the requesting skill outside of therapy.
