Noor Milbes Represents TBU for QABA at the Tsunageru ABA: World Autism Summit in Hakodate, Japan

This September, Noor Milbes traveled to Hakodate, Japan, to participate in the Tsunageru ABA: World Autism Summit, an international gathering of professionals, educators, and advocates committed to advancing the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Representing TBU for QABA, Noor played a central role at the conference by raising awareness of the organization’s mission, services, ABA training courses, and other resources while also engaging with colleagues from around the world.
At the summit, Noor managed a booth showcasing TBU for QABA’s wide range of offerings, including courses designed to support professionals pursuing such ABA Certification programs as the Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT), Qualified Autism Service Practitioner – Supervisor (QASP-S), and Qualified Behavior Analyst (QBA). The booth became a hub of discussion as Noor informed attendees of the role TBU for QABA plays in providing accessible and impactful training for students and families alike. She also took the opportunity to speak with participants about the many resources and services TBU for QABA offers, highlighting how its work bridges education, research, and clinical practice on a global scale.
In addition to representing TBU for QABA, Noor delivered her own presentation on the “Functional Perspective of Mental Health”. Her insightful talk emphasized how behavior analysis can inform mental health practices by identifying underlying factors and creating supportive strategies for all individuals. The presentation not only sparked thoughtful dialogue but also positioned TBU for QABA as a dynamic thought leader in integrating ABA training courses with broader mental health approaches. Oftentimes, the implementation of ABA is only thought of for people on the autism spectrum. This evidence based practice can in fact be used by everyone, depending on the changes they are seeking to make in their lives. Noor also answered numerous questions from an international audience and shared ABA practices commonly implemented in the United States, encouraging cross-cultural exchange with everyone.
Networking was another cornerstone of Noor’s experience in Japan. Throughout the summit, she connected with ABA professionals from across the globe, building relationships with colleagues in Japan and other nations. These conversations allowed Noor to learn about diverse ABA practices and approaches, expanding her understanding of how cultural context shapes intervention strategies worldwide. The chance to both share U.S. methodologies in ABA certification programs and learn from international practices allowed her to strengthen her professional perspective while expanding her global knowledge.
Beyond the conference halls, Noor embraced the cultural richness of Japan. She enjoyed traditional teas, visited historic temples, and found great joy in experiencing the country’s historic balance of tradition and modernity. She shared how locals were welcoming, kind, and respectful—qualities that made her feel safe and at ease as she traveled by herself.
Noor’s participation in the Tsunageru ABA: World Autism Summit reflects an amplification of TBU for QABA’s mission on an international stage, but also allowed her to bring home new ideas, practices, and global connections that will inspire her future work. By combining advocacy, knowledge sharing about ABA training courses, and cultural immersion, Noor’s experience in Hakodate serves as a testament to the power of collaboration in advancing autism services, and TBU for QABA’s mission worldwide.
