Multielement design
In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a multielement design is a research method in which two or more interventions are presented in rapid alternation to compare their effects on a single target behavior. Conditions are rotated frequently so differences in behavior can be attributed to the intervention in effect at that moment.
Example: A behavior technician alternates between delivering behavior-specific praise and using a token system across sessions to determine which approach produces higher on-task behavior. The strategy that yields the most consistent improvement would then be selected for ongoing intervention.
